When can I take my benefits?

If you are a Deferred member to the Fund and are approaching or over the age of 55, you may be considering your retirement options. Our My Pension Online Service allows you to calculate your projected pension benefits for any date between your 55th and 75th birthdays. The calculators run against each of your pensionable employments individually and are a fair representation of the benefits you may receive using the current information that we hold for you. Your benefits will have been calculated upon your termination from your employment and details will have been sent to you in the post. Each year your Deferred Pension is increased by Pensions Increase. The online calculators use the current value of your pension benefits (which will have included any applicable increases between your date of leaving and today’s date.) Your Pension will continue to attract Pensions Increase each April up to your date of Pension commencement and following it.

If you are already registered for the My Pension Online service, you can access the calculators under the Pensions Benefits & Pension Calculators tabs. If you are not currently registered for the service, you may register here- https://www.mypensiononline.rctpensions.org.uk/home/non-member/thinking-of-joining.html

Retirement on the grounds of ill health

There is no minimum age on which deferred benefits can be paid due to ill health. Your previous employer has to agree to the early release of your benefits, based on information provided to them by an Independent Registered Medical Practitioner. If you think that this applies to you, you should contact us in the first instance and we will liase with your former employer to arrange a medical.
